We’re Back!!

Hello Everyone!!

It’s been a while!!! We’re sorry for that, but we’ve been in transition here at Salon Bellissima! The upcoming Autumn season is bringing some exciting changes our way, and we hope you’ll be just as excited about them as we are!!

For those of you who may not know, Salon Bellissima has a new owner!! Nicci Troupe comes to us after 6 years of working at an Aveda Concept salon here in Fairhaven. She purchased the salon in August, and we love having her here!

In other salon news, we are currently searching for an Esthetician, so if anybody knows someone who may be interested in the position please send them our way!! We’d love someone who is available for skincare treatments and waxing services. Until we find someone to fill the position all skincare and body waxing services will be temporarily unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Now on to the good stuff… PRODUCT NEWS!!!

We are thrilled to announce that we will now be carrying the Moroccanoil! Moroccanoil contains a unique blend of ultra light Argan oil, which has been used by the women of Morocco for centuries to treat their hair, nails and skin. Hair absorbs it instantly to help eliminate frizz, and provide long-term conditioning for all hair types. It can also speed up styling time by up to 40%!! We should have it on the shelves next week – we can’t wait to show you why this product is so in demand!!

Product of the Month: September

We are launching a brand new Davines product this month as well!!

Davines Oi/Oil will give you the same softness and shine, but with even greater benefits than the Moroccanoil! Oi is a multifunctional styling aid, reconstructor, and protectant for all hair types. Roucou oil is an active ingredient of plant origin used that provides restructuring, and anti-aging action. Oi is also super rich in Beta-carotenes that reduce cell damage caused by UV rays. Natural silicon oils create a breathable, protective film on the hair structure, protecting it from external aggressions. This oil is absorbed into the hair shaft instead of coating it. It adds shine and repairs the hair from the inside out! Oi is also a thermal protectant, and will offer protection when using hot tools up to 200 degrees. A little bit gets you a long way with this product! You can add 2-3 pumps into wet hair before styling for protection and to reduce blow-dry time! You can also add 2-3 pumps to the midshaft and ends of your hair, and brush through hair afterwars to evenly distribute in order to add shine to the hair!  **Finer hair textures should start with 1 pump and add more if needed!**

Cost: 135mL …….. $39.00

For the month of September Oi will be offered at 20% off when purchased at the time of service!

Look out for Davines’ new addition to the Essential Haircare line- Volu. Volu is a thickening line with a shampoo and 2 different conditioners! We should be launching that by the end of September!!

That’s all for today! Thanks for all your patience while we’re experiencing all of our changes here!!

We can’t wait to see you all and give everyone their new Fall ‘do!

We Love!!

Hello Ladies!!!

The gorgeous weather this past week has inspired the gals from Salon Bellissima to share 5 of our favorite hair trends for Spring and this coming Summer!  We think you will love these looks, and have lots of fun combining some of them to see what kind of different styles you can create!

# 1:   Blunt Bangs

That’s right!! This 70’s style a la Jane Birkin is back and we dig it! Zooey Deschanel and Camilla Belle are perfect examples of celebs today who are rocking the look!

This fabulous, heavy fringe should be worn below your eyebrows, and slightly longer toward the sides. We’re loving this look on you long-locked ladies paired with longer flowing layers, and slightly angled framing starting  just below the chin. To style: Run a small amount of gel, or a styling serum of your choice through your hair, making sure to get some in your bangs – this will add a bit of shine and some hold while you blow dry. Dry the bangs all forward with a brush curling slightly under if you desire and then flat iron if needed!

#2:  The New (More Extreme) Side Part

This trend is wonderful for you gals who are tired of styling your hair the same way all the time, but aren’t quite ready to commit to changing the cut or color. Changing your part can often make a dramatic change to your style!  To achieve this deep side part, place a comb flat against the side of your head. Where the comb leaves the side of your head is where you should part the hair.  If you like the straight and sleek try pulling it into a low pony to keep it off your neck in the warmer summer months. For you curly girls, try securing one side back with bobby pins. And short hair ladies –  We’re loving Audrey Tautou’s bob with this part and some soft curls!! Davines Shine Drops are a great product to give shine and smooth the hair for a more sleek look, while the Davines Sea Salt Primer adds amazing texture to straight or curly hair!

#3:   The Swoop

This style is fabulous, and is fab to pair with the extreme side part!! We’re loving this wearable style as it can be done to look beautifully un-done or you can make it super sleek and polished for a night out! To Style: Bring fringe, and some hair from top section of the head forward to rest on the forehead lightly. Pull to the side, creating a swoop, and secure loosely with bobby pins or a barrette just above the ear. Dry shampoo is a great way to add texture, or you can use gel to hold and add shine to a more sleek look.

#4:   Low Bun

This is another great style for warmer summer months – and it is SUPER easy to achieve at home! You can leave it loose for a casual bohemian look, or keep it nice and polished for a special occasion or event!

To Style: Give hair a center part (side parts will work too, if you prefer). For a casual look, keep the ears covered and pull hair into a low pony, and loosely wrap ends into a bun and pin. For a more polished look, apply a small amount of  gel, such as Davines Artifixture Gel, to hair, and using a boar bristle brush, brush back until smooth and secure in a low pony. Twist the ends of hair until smooth, and wrap into a bun and secure.

#5:    Ombre

This is probably more than a few stylists’ favorite color trend right now! You have probably seen and heard about this disheveled, sexy look before. It definitely has people doing a double-take! This color technique is done by leaving, or creating, a dark root that extends downward to lighter ends. It can be done as subtle, or as in-your-face as you like. We love it because it is completely unique to every person’s style – no two turn out the same! It’s also pretty low maintenance. It’s meant to look grown out, so touch-ups aren’t needed as frequently. It’s completely hip, and it can be done with all hair colors! When thinking of having this service done, think about whether you want it to whisper, talk, or shout. That’s a great way to make sure you and your stylist are on the same page!

We hope you all have as much fun playing with these great styles as we do! Next time you come in, let us know if you have any questions about any of these trends. We’re happy to help you achieve your desired look!

Here’s hoping the sunshine comes back to us all soon!

Which service should you get: Balayage or Foils?

Balayage is a technique used to paint hair color or bleach directly onto the hair without using any foils or heat applications.  The art of hair painting (Balayage) is a process that gives more dimensional natural looking color.  Balayage is not a replacement for foils.  The technique gives an overall sun-kissed effect while foils will look more piecy – even if it’s a blended foil.  Balayage can provide larger piecy sections of color on the hair, but for the most part, it’s still going to look very blended compared to a chunky foil.   Balayage is gentler on the hair than other traditional highlighting techniques, as it doesn’t use heat like foils do.  Aluminum foil conducts heat and can cause more damage to the hair than with Balayage.

Balayage is perfect for a brunette who wants to go lighter all over or have a sun-kissed look rather than just all dark.  It’s also great for natural blondes who want a brighter blonde look all over, but don’t want any pieces or stripes of blonde or for a blonde who is very light and wants an overall low-light effect.

Depending on how your stylist applies the balayage and how large or small the sections are will affect how bold or subtle your balayage will turn out.  One thing that is fabulous about Balayage is that is completely customized to your coloring needs and each client will get a unique look that is unlike anyone else’s.

Foils are a great service for someone who wants color or bleach to come up right to their roots and doesn’t want to see any “grow-out.”  Balayage does not go all the way up to the root so that is something you need to be prepared for!  The way Balayage is typically applied starts with thick saturation in the bottom and middle areas of the hair strand and is swept up and feathered into the top of the section near the roots. By doing this, it creates more visible amounts of color or bleach  on the bottom two-thirds of the hair, and leaves the top section with more of your natural or base color.  If you like the idea of Balayage for an all-over effect but still prefer to have foils at the roots, you can always combine foils and Balayage, or color and Balayage, or a combination of all three.  Ask your stylist for ideas for your specific needs and together, figure out what is going to be the best option to achieve your ideal look.  At Salon Bellissima we offer several Balayage and foil services so please check our our site for more information or call us anytime!
